OCTOBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the Hackett Community Association’s (HCA) October 2021 newsletter.

HCA AGM

We will hold our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 26 October 2021, 7.30-9.00pm, via Zoom. We are pleased to have Jochen Zeil join us. Jochen was on the HCA Committee when it first started in 2002 and Chair in 2007-08. Joachim has also been on the North Canberra Community Council since 2008 and is now Chair. He will give a talk about past and future issues relevant to North Canberra. All HCA members are welcome to join in – if you would like to participate, or be on the Committee, please send an email to info@hackett.asn.au.

North Canberra Community Council

The North Canberra Community Council (NCCC) is the officially recognised peak community body representing the interests and concerns of the residents and businesses within the Inner North region of Canberra. You can access their latest newsletter on their website – https://www.northcanberra.org.au/category/home/. They will be holding their Annual General Meeting, on Wednesday 17 November 2021.

New tables at the shops

In June this year, the ACT Government provided an additional table on the lawns at the shops. They have now fixed the new table near the walkway that goes to the bus stop on Madigan Street.

But no more tables in our parks

Following the HCA submission to the 2020-21 ACT Budget consultation process, tables were provided in the Gilruth and Bragg Street parks. The HCA provided a submission (no.78) into the 2021-22 ACT Budget consultation. This submission requested the provision of tables in Tyron St- Mackenzie St, French St and Caldwell St parks, and at the northern end of the Hackett Oval under the trees near the carpark. Unfortunately, our request has not received funding. We will try again next year. To see all the budget submissions go to https://www.budgetconsultation.act.gov.au/input-received
